Spatial (Imaging) Mass Spectrometry – Services and Instruments
Spatial mass spectrometry is an imaging‑based technique that maps the distribution of metabolites directly within biological tissues. By acquiring mass‑to‑charge measurements at defined spatial coordinates, it generates high‑resolution metabolic maps that reveal tissue structure, metabolic gradients, and region‑specific biochemical changes.
Spatial MS enables:
- Direct visualisation of metabolites in situ
- Mapping of tissue heterogeneity and metabolic microenvironments
- Investigation of disease mechanisms at the molecular level
- Localisation of biomarkers within specific tissue regions


Access and Operation
Our Imaging Mass Spectrometry platform enables spatial mapping of metabolites directly within tissue samples, offering high-resolution insights into metabolite distribution. Operated as a fee-for-service facility, we provide full support for study design, sample preparation, imaging acquisition, and data analysis.
