Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry – Services and Instruments
GC‑MS (gas chromatography–mass spectrometry) is a core metabolomics platform used to separate, identify, and quantify volatile and derivatised metabolites in complex biological samples. The gas chromatograph resolves compounds based on their chemical properties, while the mass spectrometer provides highly specific identification through mass‑to‑charge ratios and characteristic fragmentation patterns.
