Metabolomics Australia is a major research infrastructure facility at the University of Melbourne, operating on a fee-for-service basis. We provide researchers with access to a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art instrumentation and analytical capabilities. Our services support University of Melbourne researchers and students, as well as external universities, research institutes, and industry partners, fostering collaborative projects and advancing cutting-edge metabolomics research.
Accessing Our Services
Metabolomics Australia operates a range of fee-for-service platforms, providing researchers with access to world-class expertise in metabolomics. Our team supports all stages of your project – from experimental design and sample preparation to data acquisition, analysis, and biological interpretation – ensuring reliable and meaningful results.

It is a requirement that all outputs arising from the use of Metabolomics Australia (MA) facilities properly acknowledge the platform. Please include the following in the acknowledgements section of any publications:

Getting here from Melbourne city centre:
By Train and Tram:
- Train: Take a train from Melbourne Central Station (City Loop) to Royal Park Station on the Upfield line (approx. 10–12 minutes). From Royal Park Station, it’s a 10-minute walk east along Royal Parade to Flemington Road and the Bio21 Institute.
- Tram: Take Tram Route 55 or 59 from the city centre (Stop: Melbourne University / Royal Parade). Alight at Flemington Road / Bio21 stop, then walk a short distance to the Institute.
Parking:
Some on-street parking is available around the Bio21 campus; however, spaces are generally very limited. We recommend using public transport where possible.
