Quality Management and ISO 9001 Certification
Metabolomics Australia (UoM node) achieved Quality Management System (QMS) ISO 9001 certification in June 2024. ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised standard that defines the requirements for an effective, transparent, and continuously improving quality management system. Certification demonstrates that an organisation operates with consistent, controlled processes and is committed to reliability, accountability, and customer-focused service delivery.
For researchers and industry clients, ISO 9001 certification provides assurance that all workflows – from sample receipt through to data delivery – are conducted using validated procedures, documented methodologies, and rigorous quality oversight. This enhances confidence in the reproducibility, traceability, and accuracy of all analytical and computational outputs.
The adoption of ISO 9001 principles strengthens stakeholder engagement through clearer communication, well-defined project management, and structured mechanisms for feedback and continuous improvement. Importantly, ISO 9001 directly supports research integrity by reducing variability, enhancing data quality, and ensuring that every project meets defined scientific, technical, and operational standards.
