Lipidomics – Services and Instruments
Lipidomics is a specialised branch of metabolomics focused on the comprehensive analysis of lipids—their structures, abundance, and functional roles within biological systems. Because lipids are essential for energy storage, membrane architecture, and cell signalling, alterations in lipid profiles can reflect metabolic states, physiological changes, or disease processes. Using techniques such as LC‑MS and, in some cases, imaging mass spectrometry, lipidomics enables the identification and quantification of hundreds to thousands of lipid species within a single sample.

Access and Operation
Metabolomics Australia’s Lipidomics service provides comprehensive profiling of cellular lipids to investigate lipid metabolism and dynamics. Available as a fee-for-service platform, we provide guidance on experimental planning, sample preparation, data acquisition, and downstream interpretation.
