Research integrity
Research integrity is fundamental to all research activities at the University of Melbourne. We uphold the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (the Code), which outlines principles of honesty, rigour, transparency, fairness, respect, recognition, accountability and responsible research practices to ensure research is conducted and reported with trustworthiness.
- The University has a robust and comprehensive policy framework which sets the standards of conduct expected of our researchers. This includes academic staff, students, graduate researchers, honorary appointees and professional staff who conduct or assist with research.
- Our Responsible Conduct of Research Policy (MPF1318) , which implements the Code at the University, can be found on our Policy Library, along with all other policies relating to research and research training.
- The University appoints Research Integrity Advisors (RIAs, login required) across all faculties. RIAs are the first contact for staff and students with questions or concerns about the responsible conduct of research.
- Our Office of Research Ethics and Integrity (OREI) manages and investigates potential breaches of the Code. See our Research Concerns page for more information.
