Kate Smith-Miles' Research Summary

We are exploring the competitiveness of quantum optimisation algorithms such as Quantum Annealing and QAOA, considering combinatorial optimisation problems such as Travelling Salesman Problem and MAXCUT. We use Instance Space Analysis - a methodology developed by my group for "stress testing" algorithms - to better understand quantum circuit design performance, algorithm performance, and parameter choices, for various kinds of instances of a problem. This is critical to understanding potential quantum advantage.
