We are proud to announce that Professor Ute Roessner, academic lead at The University of Melbourne for JUMPA and Head of the School of BioSciences, has been named a Trailblazer on the Victorian Honour Roll of Women.

The Victorian Honour Roll of Women “acknowledges and celebrates the achievements of women in Victoria”, and this year was the 20th anniversary of the Roll.

In 2020, 32 women were inducted into the Roll. Professor Roessner was inducted for being “one of Australia’s foremost plant scientists and a world leader in the field of metabolomics – the detection and quantification of small molecule metabolites in biological materials”.

The Honour Roll citation further explains Professor Roessner’s contribution to Victoria: “She conducted some of the earliest work in gas and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry-based metabolomics. She later helped establish Metabolomics Australia, an internationally renowned, national metabolomics service provider to academia and industry.”

Professor Roessner runs a plant metabolomics and physiology lab in the School of BioSciences at the University of Melbourne and has been Head of School since 2018.

See Professor Roessner’s citation on the Victorian Honour Roll of Women website.
