Applications for an IRRTF contribution to an external funding application are due 4 weeks before the deadline of the external call.
The International Research and Research Training Fund (IRRTF) aims to facilitate collaborations with high quality researchers and institutions in Brazil, Chile, China, Germany and India. The IRRTF was established to foster greater international research and collaboration while providing an integrated international research training experience.
Since its inception in 2013, the IRRTF has supported three open calls for applications as well as a number of bilateral programs and strategic initiatives. Combined, these calls elicited over 300 applications of which 160 were awarded with a value of nearly $8M.
From 2016, the IRRTF will move into a new phase. In place of annual open rounds, the IRRTF will instead be primarily used to provide strategic contributions to external funding applications. The exception is where the IRRTF will continue the University’s support for bilateral grant programs such as:
This revised focus of the IRRTF comes three years into the five-year initiative and consolidates the Fund’s intention to enable researchers to partner with peers from priority countries and jointly pursue international funding opportunities.
How to apply
Researchers who are employed through the University of Melbourne at Academic Level A (6) or higher, minimum 0.5 FTE, are welcome to apply.
