The total Establishment Grant amount for Arts applicants ($150,000) is yet to be confirmed.
In the Faculty of Arts the Arts Research team will arrange for each applicant’s draft Strategic Alignment Statement to be reviewed and feedback provided by the Faculty’s Associate Dean Research. Prior to sending their Strategic Statement to the Faculty applicants are required to draft it in consultation with their grant mentor and to have the draft reviewed and approved by their Head of School. The draft Strategic Statement should be attached to the completed Arts FT18 Strategic Statement and Establishment Grant form when forwarded to the Arts Research Team by 1 November 2017.

This scheme aims to:
- Support successful ARC Future Fellows in establishing their research program at the University of Melbourne
- Enhance the candidate’s competitiveness when applying for the ARC Future Fellowship scheme
Faculties may set their own objectives and priorities in determining which candidates will be nominated for Establishment Grant support. Fellows must apply to their host faculty for Establishment Grant support through whatever process the faculty deems appropriate.
Chancellery Research & Enterprise will offer grants of up to $100,000 per project. To be eligible for central support, the host department/school/faculty must provide matching funding on a 2:1 basis. Chancellery Research & Enterprise may reduce its level of support in the event that requests exceed the budget for this program.
Chancellery Research & Enterprise does not impose any restrictions on how the central funding can be used, as long as it directly supports the Future Fellow and their project. Faculties may enforce restrictions on the use of funding as appropriate.
How to apply
Total requested Establishment Grant support
The Future Fellowship applicant should include details of the total requested Establishment Grant support in their ARC application in the following sections:
- C3: Statement by the Administering Organisation – include details of the total financial support being provided by the Admin Org.
- E1 : Application Budget – in the Admin Org column, list the specific items which will be funded by the Establishment Grant OR include a single line for 'Establishment Grant support' under the 'Other' subheading.
- F2: Details of Admin Org contribution – describe how the UoM Establishment Grant support will contribute to achieving the aims of the project.
- I: Research Support Table – list as a requested application. (Sponsor: University of Melbourne; Scheme: Establishment Grant 2018).
Submit application to host faculty
Fellowship applicants apply to their host faculty for support.
Faculties may need to rank applications if they wish to limit support in a particular round.
Faculty submits application to RIC
Faculties should submit a list of names on the Faculty Establishment Grant Form with a faculty commitment and the requested RIC commitment by Monday 6 November 2017.
