ABOUT

The Creativity and Wellbeing Hallmark Research Initiative (CAWRI) is a University of Melbourne initiative that investigates how creativity and wellbeing intersect.

This website displays the breadth of our activities through blogs, podcasts and other materials. For more information about our research scope and the projects funded by this initiative visit our research page.

People engaging in craft activities around a table

CAWRI's aim is to develop new frameworks and methods to better understand the link between creativity and wellbeing. CAWRI has initiated and funded a range of research projects examining the link between creativity and wellbeing in a variety of contexts. These projects are exploring how creative activities can:

  • promote and facilitate adaptive ageing;
  • help people cope with the COVID-19 pandemic and its social and mental stresses;
  • help survivors of sexual trauma move towards post-traumatic growth;
  • help migrant communities navigate new social challenges;
  • help combat reductive stereotypes of women's ageing as a time of decline and loss;
  • and much more.

Our blog and podcast provide a platform for researchers in our network as well as others working in our theme area to connect with and communicate their research to a wider audience.
