NEW PROJECTSCreativity and wellbeing PhD top-up grants awardedCOVID-19 has caused an unprecedented financial impact on the research community. To address this, the Creativity and Wellbeing Hallmark Research Initiative has awarded A$15 000 in top-up grants for PhD students working in our theme area. Successful research projects include how technology supports wellbeing and ageing, the social and civic use of cemeteries, and how circus programs can improve outcomes for children with developmental impairments. A special issue of the journal invites contributions that particularly address the bundle of questions around the memorialization of imperialism, racism and the slave trade and the various campaigns to remove statues, to rename streets, squares and buildings, and to insert the forgotten histories of exploitation into a critical relationship with the memorials as they remain in public spaces or are transported to museums, junk yards and so on. TOPIC: Special Collection on The Role of Music Psychology Research in a Complex World: Implications, Applications and DebatesSubmissions close 31 December 2020. The study of the musical mind its associated behaviours has become increasingly socially conscious, with more emphasis on applications and values, and calls to reflect on music(king)’s capacity to afford (inter)subjectivity and empathy; to engage with music’s global diversity, and to encourage interdisciplinarity communality. The special collection is particularly timely as recent years have seen rapid societal and cultural change on a global scale, which has impacted on priorities for the environment, education, community, wellbeing, politics, and social justice, as well as mounting concern about the rise of intolerance in an increasingly polarised society.
