About this event

The Hallmark Research Initiative for Affordable Housing (HRIAH) is hosting an open space session designed to support networking, foster targeted conversations about affordable housing and support the HRIAH's $65,000 Affordable Housing Seed Funding round.

We hope to bring together new ideas, new partnerships and new commitments to affordable housing delivery and research.

What’s an ‘Open Space’ event and how do I prepare for it?

An Open Space event, or ‘unconference’ as it is also often termed, is a participant-lead event where contributors co-create an agenda of parallel working sessions.

The idea is simple but the outcome is powerful.

We invite you to turn up to the event with an idea for the 2021 Affordable Housing Seed Funding round or an openness to collaborating with other people with a proposal. We’ll then invite participants to propose an idea, topic or project they’d like to discuss with others. From there, we’ll co-create an agenda for the event and allow people to nominate to engage in conversations that are most interesting to them.

Use the time to get into the details of one particular project, or move between groups to engage in a series of conversations about potential projects. The session is designed to help groups to ideate, find new collaborators, work through details and respond to the seed funding application form.

Who should attend?

We invite affordable housing researchers and anyone engaged in the delivery, design, management, policy-creation or funding of affordable housing to attend.

If you are a researcher, this is an opportunity to progress an idea and find potential collaborators from within and outside academia. Even if you don't intend to submit an application, the event is an opportunity to network, learn and share ideas

If you are from government, industry, or community, here is a chance to find people working on topics that matter to you, to collaborate, or to share knowledge.

Everyone who attends will be invited to the final pitch session and voting process, so you will have an opportunity to vote on how $65,000 of seed funding is distributed.

Further Details

The event will be facilitated by Mosaic Lab.

This event is part of a broader series of events designed to complement the 2021 Affordable Housing Seed Funding Round.
