This MIPA research project will explore the effects of ACL replacement surgery on people’s daily lives.
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the major ligaments in the knee. It is highly susceptible to injury, particularly in sports. Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) is a surgical procedure that aims to replace a torn ACL. The procedure has become increasingly prevalent in recent years, especially among young people. This project will observe and document the effects of ACL replacement surgery on individuals’ day-to-day lives post-surgery.
After completing my bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, I worked with a startup for several months developing models for experiential learning. I joined Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras as a masters student in2016. I later converted my degree into a joint PhD with the University of Melbourne, as part of the Melbourne-India Postgraduate Program and Academy (MIPA) ]I began my research work at the Rehabilitation Research and Device Development (R2D2) Lab. My work there focused on the development of assistive technology at affordable prices. Through MIPA, I've explored my passion for biomechanics by solving interesting problems in the field.
