Before new technologies like fog computing can be implemented, good policies must be developed. This project aims to develop and design the policies that will underpin these new technologies.
The goal of this project is:
Advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G require equally advanced digital infrastructure. Fog computing and mobile edge computing are two innovations in this area. Implementing technologies like fog computing across existing network platforms presents many challenges. We need to develop new architectures, protocols and economic policies to overcome these challenges. This will allow common users to extend their choice of services. This project aims to formulate new protocols and policies, using theoretical modelling and algorithms.
What did you do before you started your PhD?
I completed a Master of Technology in Telecommunications Engineering from IIT Kharagpur.
What are the challenges of your research role?
The research itself is highly complex and very challenging. Formulating the relevant problems in the area and looking for possible extensions to existing theoretical tools are particularly tricky. Furthermore, envisioning next-generation networks require familiarity with developing computing and networking technologies.
What is the best part of your research role?
The best part of my research role is getting the opportunity to explain complicated concepts to my peers and to students.
Where do you wish to go after your PhD? Do you want to enter industry or continue doing more research?
I would like to stay in Academia and continue to pursue research.
