UoM RDM Platforms Scheduled Maintenance: 17-18 December 2018

A  maintenance window affecting the University of Melbourne Research Data Management (RDM) platforms (i.e. Mediaflux, DaRIS and Omeka) has been scheduled.

START TIME: 2018-12-17 09:00 A.M. AEDT
END TIME: 2018-12-18 06:00 P.M. AEDT

REASONS

A large proportion of the UoM Research Cloud infrastructure is currently connected to a legacy Cisco network environment. This network is at capacity and does not allow us to improve performance further nor deploy more cloud capacity, including the 4000 cores we recently purchased. In response, we have built a new high-performance research network and therefore require a scheduled two-day outage of UoM RDM platforms to do the following:

- Network switch upgrades 
- Perform various maintenance tasks

DETAIL

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, 2018-12-17, Mediaflux service, MBCIU DaRIS service and UoM Omeka server service will be shut down to accommodate the above tasks.

By 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, 2018-12-18, access to all above-mentioned servers will be restored, we will send out notifications when services are fully resumed.

Please note, this maintenance will not affect the new Mediaflux server (mediaflux.researchsoftware.unimelb.edu.au).
