Invitation - BIOINSPIRATION RESEARCH INITIATIVE-Public Lecture
Free Public Lecture
Elizabeth Murdoch Building
You are invited to a free public lecture on new bioinspired coloured materials, hosted by the University of Melbourne's Hallmark Research Initiative in BioInspiration.
Dr. Silvia Vignolini from Cambridge University will present some of the intriguing and creative ways nature generates colours and visual effects without pigments or dyes. This so-called 'structural colouration' is responsible for many of nature's most spectacular colours and effects, from mother-of-pearl, to peacock feathers and iridescent beetles. Humans replicate this structural colouration in everything from paints to banknotes. Hear how we can learn from nature to produce the next generation of bioinspired, eco-friendly colorants.
At the public lecture, we will also showcase the exciting projects of the three winners of the BioInspiration Seed Funding Competition.
Finger-food and drinks will be provided after the lecture.
We warmly invite you to join us.
