Disability Human Rights Clinic 2016

Our second semester of the Disability Human Rights Clinic is drawing to a close, and what a semester it’s been!

Under the supervision of Yvette Maker and Annegret Kaempf, three groups of students partnered with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Australian Centre for Disability Law, and the BODYS Centre for Disability Research Bochum, Germany to conduct research on rights violations experienced by persons with disabilities and propose solutions. Students shared their research findings, and sought feedback from the community, in a workshop on guardianship rights with the leadership group at VALiD , a mock trial on the right to vote at Melbourne Law School, and a presentation via video-link to the UN Special Rapporteur and her staff.

Applications for next year’s clinic are open, and we invite all interested students to apply on the website:
Disability Human Rights Clinic website.
