The new Centre of Visual Art (CoVA) at The University of Melbourne was established in 2018 to facilitate innovative research and collaborative projects, with an ambition to become the leader in the field of visual art research within the Asia-Pacific region.

What We Do

CoVA fosters a diverse and extensive community of artists, scholars, historians and other thinkers and makers to address fundamental issues in art practice, art history, curatorship, arts writing and cultural management. CoVA’s cross-disciplinary research focuses on the most significant cultural issues of our time through the development of a program that engages with local, regional and global histories that are impacting cultural life.
