Chancellery Research & Enterprise develops and oversees the research agenda and enables the Research at Melbourne strategy, cultivating investigator-driven research in the fundamental enabling disciplines, while pursuing applied and interdisciplinary solutions to three Grand Challenges: Understanding our Place and Purpose; Fostering Health and Wellbeing; Supporting Sustainability and Resilience.

  • Committee of Associate Deans Research

    Convened by Chancellery Research and Enterprise, the Committee of Associate Deans Research is a  key stage of review for policies relating to the research portfolio and provides a central link and source of strategic advice to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) for operational and policy research matters within and across faculties – particularly in relation to opportunities for cross-faculty initiatives.   • Committee of Graduate Research Associate Deans

    The Committee of Graduate Research Associate Deans (CGRAD) coordinates the delivery of graduate research across the University. CGRAD serves as a forum through which the Faculties and Graduate Schools can discuss policies and share best practices, identify opportunities and threats with key University stakeholders including Research Chancellery, Academic Services and the Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education (M-CSHE).   • IP Commercialisation Advisory Group

    The IP Commercialisation Advisory Group (IPAG) will provide academic, strategic coherence and governance for IP investments at the University of Melbourne. The Advisory Group will ensure IP Commercialisation investments are appropriately considered by a skilled and diverse selection of the university community – supporting rigorous commercial, technical and academic due diligence for IP investments.   • Melbourne Collaborative Research Infrastructure Committee

    The Melbourne Collaborative Research Infrastructure Committee (MCRIC) provides oversight of the University’s research infrastructure strategy. It oversees the review of existing research infrastructure capabilities and evaluates future investment opportunities, both internally and externally to the University. The Committee provides guidance to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) in developing, implementing and reviewing research infrastructure policy. [Terms of Reference]

  • Research Due Diligence Advisory Group

    The establishment of this Advisory Group was endorsed by University Council at its October 2018 meeting, following a recommendation of the Discussion Paper ‘Research in a Public-Spirited University’. Chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), the Research Due Diligence Advisory Group has process oversight of the principles-based framework that underpins decisions about research the University undertakes with external parties, when that research could present risks to the University’s reputation, values and mission.
