Overview

The Joyce Lambert Antarctic Research Fund is looking for researchers to undertake internationally or nationally collaborative Antarctic Research. For the purposes of the scheme 'Antarctic' is defined as the continent of Antarctica and the ice shelves, waters, and island territories in the Southern Ocean situated south of the Antarctic Convergence.

Funding will only be awarded for research related to the Antarctic.

Antarctic research may include research related to:

  • The physical (including natural or built)
  • Socio-economic
  • Legal and cultural (including historical) environs of the Antarctic
  • The activities or issues impacting on the above.

Funding

Seed grants of up to $50,000 will be offered to support researchers in conducting high quality Antarctic research programs. The purpose of the programs is to leverage international or national networks and programs and enhance the University's Antarctic research impact. Awarded funding may be expanded over one to three years.

Eligibility

  • Collaborative or interdisciplinary team applications will be considered favourably. 
  • Team applications must nominate a 'Coordinating Investigator'.
  • Chief/Coordinating Investigators must hold a salaried academic appointment of at least 0.5 FTE at the University of Melbourne.
  • There are no restrictions on other members of the proposed project team, including international team members.
