Professor Mark Hargreaves was first appointed as Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Melbourne in September 2011. His range of academic experience positions him well for this leadership role with responsibility for internal collaborative schemes (Melbourne Interdisciplinary Research Institutes, Hallmark Research Initiatives, Networks and Alliances) and for the important relationships between the University and its research partners.

Mark is a distinguished physiologist, with teaching and research interests in exercise physiology and metabolism. His studies have examined the effects of acute and chronic exercise on skeletal muscle carbohydrate metabolism. Mark had a major leadership role in the curriculum developments as part of the Melbourne Model implementation.
